You can find Methodists almost everywhere, both in this country and around the world. From our beginnings in the 18th century we have been committed to proclaiming the Christian Gospel in word and deed, with a particular emphasis on developing our faith and working out how being a Christian affects our lives.
High Street Methodist Church opened in 1930 after two previous Methodist churches in the town proved too small. Our present church community numbers more than 400 people of all ages and backgrounds; some have come from Methodist churches in other places and some have come because they have found a welcoming community with a style of worship that supports their faith and creeds. We have a strong sense of mission and work closely with the other major Christian denominations; supporting fully the work of Churches Together in Harpenden.
The building has seen various extensions and renovations since 1930, but it still serves the purpose for which it was built: To praise and worship the Lord and shape us for mission.
